My view of all art can be summarized in the title of my first show, “In Conversation: Fragments of Myself.” No artist works in a vacuum: when we create we all join an ongoing conversation—and hope in our own work to continue that conversation, with other artists and with our audience.
Whenever you buy a work of art, be it from me or anyone else, you buy a piece of that artist. I am not only an artist but also a collector. I like to surround myself with pieces of other people; some of them are famous artists, some on their way to becoming famous, some will never be famous—but all of their work draws on autobiographical experience and uncensored emotion. A painting tells you a lot about its painter. |
